The Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Prayer of Thanksgiving
We give thanks to you. Every soul and heart is lifted up to you, O name untroubled, honored with the name “God” and blessed with the name “Father”; for to everyone and everything come the fatherly kindness and affection and love, and any teaching there may be that is sweet and plain, granting us mind, word, and knowledge: mind, that we may understand you; word, that we may interpret you; knowledge, that we may know you.
We rejoice, for while we were in the body you have made us divine through your knowledge. The thanks of the one who reaches you is one thing only: that we have known you. We have known you, O light of the mind; O life of life, we have known you; O womb of every seed, we have known you; O womb pregnant with the nature of the Father, we have known you; O unending endurance of the Father who gives birth—so do we worship your goodness.
One wish we ask: that we be kept in the knowledge; and one protection we desire: that we not stumble from this kind of life.
