Psalms 152 to 155

[Psalm 152 — Spoken by David when he struggled with the lion and the wolf that took from his flock.]

O God, O God, come to my help;

be my deliverer and rescuer.

Do not let my life go down into the grave

for the sake of two beasts.

I will give thanks to your name, O LORD,

for you saved your servant from death.

[Psalm 153 — Spoken by David when he gave thanks, after he was delivered from the lion and the wolf.]

Give praise to the LORD, all you nations;

glorify him and bless his name,

who saved the life of his servant

from death and from the jaws of the beasts.

He sent his angel and shut their mouths,

and lifted me out of the deep pit.

[Psalm 154 — A song of wisdom and of the gathering of the upright.]

With a loud voice glorify God;

in the assembly of the many proclaim his greatness.

Wisdom is given to make known the glory of the LORD,

to tell of his might to the simple,

to make plain his greatness to the foolish.

Far from the doors of the righteous is she withheld;

she is given that the LORD may be made known.

From the gathering of the godly is her song,

and over their eating in fullness she is told,

and over their drinking when they share together.

Their meditation is on the law of the Most High,

their words on making known his power.

[Psalm 155 — A plea for deliverance from sin.]

O LORD, I have called to you; hear me.

I spread out my hands toward your holy dwelling.

Incline your ear and grant me my plea;

do not withhold my request from me.

Build up my soul and do not cast it down;

do not lay it bare before the wicked.

Turn the reward of evil away from me, O Judge of truth.

Forgive, O LORD, my sins,

and cleanse me from my offense.

Give me faith and knowledge,

and let me not be dishonored in ruin.

Let not Satan rule over me,

nor an unclean spirit;

let no pain or evil purpose take hold of my bones.

For you, O LORD, are my praise,

and in you I hope all the day.
