Psalms of Solomon
Psalms of Solomon
Blessed is the one
whose heart seeks wisdom
and whose lips speak understanding.
The fool is double-hearted
and walks two paths.
He speaks peace,
but his actions are war.
Let your way be straight.
Let your words be pure.
Let your eyes not turn aside to vanity.
The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of truth.
The wise will walk in it,
but the wicked stumble.
Woe to the sinner
who walks in boldness without repentance.
His eyes are lifted in pride.
He mocks the commands of God.
He trusts in strength
but not in the Holy One.
But the righteous man fears the Lord.
Even in secret, he guards his heart.
He walks in mercy and truth.
The Lord sees both.
He will not forget.
O Lord,
Your right hand is exalted in power.
You rescue the oppressed
and vindicate the humble.
We are surrounded by enemies.
They laugh at us.
They say, “Where is your God?”
But You are near to the brokenhearted.
You will lift the head
of those who trust in Your name.
Let those who boast in chariots
be thrown down.
But let those who hope in Your mercy
rise and shine.
O God,
You have seen the rulers of our people.
They devour the poor.
They speak lies from the throne.
They twist justice
and call evil good.
Their judgment comes.
You will tear down their palaces
and cast down their pride.
But the poor You will lift up,
and the orphan will sit with princes.
I bring You not gold,
but a contrite spirit.
Not bulls,
but tears.
Your altar receives
what man cannot see:
a humble heart,
a soul that fears You in love.
Receive me, O Lord,
not because I am worthy,
but because You are mercy.
The wicked prosper.
They mock righteousness.
They say, “There is no justice.”
But I say:
God sees.
He delays for mercy’s sake,
but He will not delay forever.
Let the righteous not grow weary.
The reward is certain.
My eyes are worn from weeping.
My soul is crushed by grief.
The sins of my people
are like a weight on my neck.
Turn us, O Lord.
Restore Your covenant.
Remember the mercy of Abraham
and the truth of David.
You hate pride, O Lord.
You resist the haughty.
You overthrow kings
and scatter the boastful.
But the lowly You exalt,
and the meek You teach.
Let not the rich mock the poor.
Let not the strong crush the weak.
For You are the Defender of the humble.
We have been scattered.
Our land is desolate.
The temple lies in ruin.
Our enemies dwell in our gates.
But You, O Lord,
have not forgotten.
You will gather us again
like a shepherd gathers lambs.
You will rebuild Zion.
You will comfort the broken.
Some trust in armies.
Some trust in silver.
Some trust in princes.
But I will trust in the name of the Lord.
Even if the earth trembles,
I will not fear.
Your covenant is everlasting.
Your promise is sure.
Remember Your people, O Lord —
those who have not turned aside.
They weep for sin.
They mourn the fall of the holy city.
They walk in faith
though they are few.
Write their names in Your book.
Lift them up in the day of salvation.
I have sinned.
I have walked in pride.
I have trusted my own strength.
But You have broken me
to heal me.
I confess my wrong,
and I ask not for wrath,
but for restoration.
Behold —
a King shall come
from the line of David.
He will be pure in word,
mighty in righteousness.
He will judge the nations in peace.
He will gather the holy ones.
He will crush the oppressor
and comfort the mourners.
He will reign forever.
You were entrusted with the flock —
but you fed yourselves.
You clothed yourselves with wool,
but did not care for the lambs.
Your time is ended.
Another Shepherd comes —
One who lays down His life
for the sheep.
Blessed is the one
whose sins are remembered no more.
Though he was unclean,
he is now washed.
Though he was far off,
he is now brought near.
Let the redeemed sing —
for mercy has triumphed over judgment.
Though the night is long,
the morning will come.
Though sorrow is heavy,
joy will rise.
Though enemies surround me,
You are my shield.
I will wait in silence,
for my hope is in You.
Our priests are silent.
Our prophets have stumbled.
Our land is in ruin.
Our hope is faint.
Yet You remain.
You are the same.
Lift up Your arm again.
Speak once more from Zion.
Revive Your people.
You will raise up the fallen.
You will heal the wounded.
You will gather the scattered.
Zion shall rejoice.
Jerusalem shall sing.
A King will reign
in justice and truth.
His name shall endure forever.
Amen.
