Sibylline Oracles Book VIII
Sibylline Oracles Book VIII
Book VIII blends two voices: an earlier section echoing the raw fire of prophetic judgment, and a later addition seemingly influenced by imperial Christianity. Yet even through redactions and theological tension, the fire of truth remains. This restored version separates confusion from clarity, keeping the sacred voice intact while cleansing doctrinal distortions.
Here, the Sibyl names the final battle, the collapse of empire, the rise of the Anointed One, and the fire that purifies all. She speaks of resurrection, final judgment, and the unshakable kingdom of the Most High.
———
Behold, the end is near —
and with it, fire from the heavens.
Not the fire of men,
but the flame of the Most High,
set apart to cleanse the earth.
The stars shall fall like leaves,
and the sun shall darken at noon.
The earth shall quake in its depths,
and the sea shall flee its place.
This is the appointed time —
when justice awakens
and deceit is consumed.
———
Woe to you, city of seven hills.
You who called yourself eternal,
you who ruled by sword and not by mercy.
You crowned kings and cast down saints.
You fed on nations and silenced truth.
You shall fall —
not by man,
but by the breath of the Eternal.
The eagle shall scatter,
the throne shall crack,
and the name you trusted shall be ash.
———
Then shall come a great war —
east against west,
brother against brother.
The dragon shall rise,
and false peace shall deceive the earth.
Nations shall burn,
and rulers shall howl in the dust.
But from the mountain of the Most High,
a banner shall be lifted.
And truth shall ride forth —
not with sword, but with fire in His eyes.
———
Then shall rise the King of the age to come —
anointed not by men,
but by the Spirit of the Most High.
He shall reign in justice,
judge in mercy,
and speak with fire and wind.
He shall cast down the proud,
heal the wounded,
and gather the remnant.
The law shall go forth from His lips,
and peace shall cover the earth
like the sea covers the deep.
———
The throne shall be set in heaven,
and the scrolls shall be unsealed.
One for the living.
One for the dead.
One for the secret thoughts of all.
Angels shall read aloud,
and none shall hide.
The heart will be its own witness.
The tongue shall fall silent.
Only truth shall speak.
———
The earth shall return her dead.
The sea shall release what it held.
The bones shall rise and be clothed with breath.
All shall stand —
the great and the forgotten,
the young and the ancient.
The righteous shall shine like the stars.
The wicked shall fade like smoke.
Each shall reap
what was sown in secret.
———
Then the Judge shall speak.
To the righteous: “Come, beloved.”
To the wicked: “Depart from light.”
There shall be no appeal,
no excuse,
no delay.
The wheat shall be gathered.
The chaff shall be cast away.
This is the day
when mercy is fulfilled
and justice is no longer delayed.
———
A river of fire shall go forth —
not to destroy the earth,
but to purify it.
The idols shall melt.
The lies shall dissolve.
The name of the wicked shall be erased.
And truth shall stand alone.
This is the baptism of the world,
the cleansing of creation,
the final sabbath.
———
Then shall dawn the age of peace.
The tree shall bear fruit each month.
The lion shall eat straw like the ox.
Tears shall be no more.
The sun shall shine without burn.
The moon shall glow without fear.
The Anointed shall dwell among men,
and the knowledge of the Lord
shall fill the earth like water in the sea.
No more temples.
No more war.
Only light.
These words I have spoken —
not from self,
but from the Spirit that speaks through fire.
O kings, listen.
O nations, repent.
O humble ones, rejoice.
The day is at hand.
The scroll is opened.
The Judge is near.
Blessed are those who trust in the Eternal One —
for they shall not taste death.
