2 Enoch
2 Enoch
This opening section recounts the moment Enoch is suddenly taken up by angels into the heavens and begins his journey through the layers of creation, where he is shown celestial wonders, angelic order, and the glory of the Most High.
Chapters 1–5: The Ascent Begins
———
It came to pass, in the year appointed by the Most High,
that Enoch was alone in his house,
resting upon his bed.
Two radiant men appeared at his side —
tall and shining like lightning,
with faces brighter than the sun
and eyes like burning fire.
They said to him:
“Do not be afraid, Enoch, beloved of the Most High.
Rise and come with us,
for the time has come to show you the hidden things.”
Immediately, Enoch rose from sleep,
and his spirit was taken from his body like a whisper in the wind.
He ascended with them on wings of light,
leaving behind the earth.
———
They took me up to the first heaven,
where I saw clouds, winds, and thick darkness moving in rhythm.
I saw the angels who guard the storehouses of snow,
rain, and dew —
each one appointed to release their blessings or withhold them.
And I asked the radiant ones,
“Who are these ministers of the elements?”
They said:
“These are the spirits of creation,
who serve the command of the Most High.
They do not act without His word.”
———
Then I was brought into a realm of light,
where I saw messengers who stood in endless praise.
Day and night, they sang with one voice:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of All.
Heaven and earth are filled with His glory.”
Their faces were gentle,
their voices like strings of a harp,
and their joy unending.
———
I looked and saw the boundaries of the earth —
how rivers return to their sources,
how the winds pass through channels,
and how the sun completes its circuit.
There were watchers stationed over time and seasons,
measuring the turning of days,
so that nothing would stray from its course.
And I saw the great veil between earth and the heavens,
stretching like crystal between realms.
———
I was shown a garden prepared for the righteous —
a place of fragrant trees,
soft light, and rivers of healing water.
There were no thorns, no death, no shadow.
It was the resting place of those who love truth.
But near it, I also saw the place where the unrighteous wait —
dry, silent, and empty of joy.
“This,” said the angels,
“is where the souls of men await the great judgment.
The righteous shall be clothed in light,
but the corrupt shall receive the fruit of their deeds.”
Enoch is suddenly taken by angels into the heavenly realms.
In the first heaven, he sees angels governing clouds, waters, and time.
He is shown celestial choirs, the laws of nature, and a paradise prepared for the righteous.
He also sees the waiting place of the unrighteous, marking the first contrast between the eternal destinies of souls.
Chapters 6–10 Enoch ascends to the second through sixth heavens, witnessing angelic orders, heavenly punishment, and the cosmic record books.
Chapters 6–10: The Heavens Above — Angels, Judgment, and the Books of Eternity
———
And they brought me to the second heaven.
There I saw darkness and sorrow —
a place where rebellious spirits were held in torment.
Angels who had turned from their place in the heavens
were suspended between earth and sky,
wrapped in chains of gloom.
They wept and pleaded with me to pray for them.
But the messengers said,
“This place is their prison until the great day.
They once walked in glory,
but chose violence and led many astray.”
———
Then I was taken to the third heaven,
and I saw the Garden of Delight.
It was filled with fragrant trees,
rivers of milk and honey,
and fruit that never faded.
The righteous were clothed in joy and peace,
resting in the light of the Set-Apart One.
But beyond it, I saw a deep and terrible abyss —
where darkness had no end,
and fire rose like waves.
“This,” said my guide,
“is the place prepared for the wicked —
a shadow before the final fire.”
———
In the fourth heaven,
I saw the sun and moon held by angelic forces,
traveling in harmony through the firmament.
Angels of the stars stood in ranks,
singing praise as they guided the luminaries.
There were heavenly choirs above them —
thousands upon thousands,
lifting voices like thunder and harp.
They sang:
“Blessed be the Name of the Creator of Time.
His glory fills the heavens!”
———
And I entered the fifth heaven,
where I saw warriors of flame —
mighty ones who once served the Most High
but had defiled their orders.
They were not bound like those below,
but they were cast down in soul,
for their joy had departed.
They mourned their fall,
and longed for the light they had abandoned.
They remained silent,
for their prayers would not rise again
until the appointed time.
———
Then I was lifted to the sixth heaven,
and I saw angels who governed the cycle of time.
There were recorders of every soul —
writing names, deeds, thoughts, and seasons
in scrolls of flame.
They counted the winds,
marked the hours of the day,
and aligned the signs of the stars
to the rhythm of the sacred year.
Every secret was known to them —
past, present, and yet to come.
And they bowed continually before the Ancient One,
whose wisdom they served without ceasing.
In the second heaven, Enoch sees the fallen angels awaiting judgment.
In the third, he beholds Paradise and the abyss of the wicked.
The fourth heaven reveals sun, moon, and the choirs of praise.
In the fifth, sorrowful watchers long for light.
The sixth heaven is filled with angelic scribes, who manage time, records, and prophecy.
Enoch enters the seventh heaven, sees the face of the Most High, and receives his divine commission as a scribe and intercessor — a moment of overwhelming light and glory.
Chapters 11–17: The Throne of Glory and the Commission of Enoch
———
Then I was carried to the seventh heaven,
and there I saw a light that no word can describe —
brighter than a thousand suns,
and purer than the first breath of creation.
There were messengers without number,
radiant and mighty,
standing in silence before the Throne of the Eternal.
The glory of the Most High was above them,
and no eye could gaze upon Him without trembling.
———
A voice came from above the crystal firmament:
“Come near, Enoch,
and stand before My face.”
The messengers parted,
and a path of fire opened through the ranks of light.
I was afraid,
and the messengers who brought me said,
“Fear not, Enoch.
For you are loved by the Creator of all.”
———
As I approached,
the Great One commanded Michael and Gabriel:
“Clothe Enoch with garments of glory,
and anoint him with the oil of light.”
They removed my earthly robes
and arrayed me in brightness.
My face was made to shine like the messengers,
and my bones were filled with fire.
I was no longer of the earth,
but of the heavens.
———
The voice of the Most High said:
“Take your place, Enoch,
among those who write.”
“You shall record all that you see and hear,
and declare it to the generations of the earth.”
“For I have chosen you as a witness —
to teach, to warn, and to bless.”
“You shall reveal what is hidden,
and restore what has been forgotten.”
———
A scroll of light was placed in my hands,
filled with the knowledge of heaven.
It contained the measure of days,
the number of stars,
the roots of the wind,
and the paths of justice.
I was told,
“Guard this scroll and share it only with the wise.
For it is not for those who walk in darkness.”
———
And again the voice spoke:
“I made all things by My Word,
and by My breath they live.”
“I know what is hidden and what is revealed,
and nothing escapes My gaze.”
“I set you apart, Enoch,
to bear this truth to My children.”
“Speak not with pride, but with mercy.
For My desire is not destruction,
but restoration.”
———
I was shown the Treasury of Righteousness —
a place filled with garments of light,
crowns of peace,
and scrolls of remembrance.
These are stored for the righteous
who walk in trust and endure in truth.
I fell on my face and said,
“How great is the goodness of the Most High,
and how small is the pride of man!”
Enoch is taken into the seventh heaven, where he stands before the Throne of the Most High.
He is transformed into light, clothed in glory, and anointed with the oil of the heavenly ones.
Enoch is commissioned as a heavenly scribe, given scrolls of wisdom, and commanded to preserve divine knowledge for the righteous remnant.
Enoch is shown the creation of the cosmos, the formation of man, and the record books of every soul, as the Most High reveals the secrets of beginnings and the destiny of all creation.

Chapters 18–22: Creation, the Soul of Man, and the Books of Judgment
———
The Most High said to me:
“Enoch, listen and understand.
I created all things visible and invisible in six timeless days.
On the first, I called forth the highest heaven
and the hosts of light who dwell in it.”
“On the second, I placed a firmament between waters,
to separate what is above from what is below.”
“On the third, I gathered the waters together
and caused the dry land to appear —
bringing forth grass, seed, and fruit.”
“On the fourth, I set the sun and moon in motion,
and the stars to rule their seasons.”
“On the fifth, I filled the sea with living creatures,
and the sky with birds that move on the wind.”
“On the sixth, I created all land beasts —
and finally, I formed man in My likeness.”
“And on the seventh day, I rested —
not from weariness, but to bless and sanctify time.”
———
“I shaped man from the dust,
and breathed into him a living spirit.”
“I gave him speech, sight, hearing, thought,
wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of good and evil.”
“I set him over all My works,
and placed within him the freedom to choose.”
“And I planted My Name within him,
so that he might walk in covenant with Me.”
———
“Before anything is done,
I record it in the book of thoughts.”
“Before a word is spoken,
I know the intention of the heart.”
“I keep scrolls for every soul —
written by angels appointed to observe each one.”
“On the day of justice,
these books shall be opened,
and each shall be judged by what was written.”
———
“When a righteous one dies,
his soul is lifted by messengers of light,
and brought to the Garden of Rest.”
“There he awaits the renewal of the body,
when the earth shall give back the dust,
and the breath shall be restored.”
“But the soul of the wicked
shall be bound in sorrow —
not yet destroyed,
but awaiting the great day of separation.”
———
Then the voice of the Most High said:
“Enoch, you have seen the order of creation,
and the measure of man’s destiny.”
“Now write all these things in a book,
and place it among the generations of the earth.”
“Let the wise read it and understand,
and let the foolish be warned.”
“For I have set you as a lamp to those in darkness,
and a scribe of My ways among the nations.”
Enoch is shown the complete framework of creation, day by day.
God reveals the formation of man, the gift of free will, and the imprint of His Name.
Enoch learns about the Books of Life and Memory, where every thought and deed is recorded.
The souls of the righteous and wicked await the final judgment in distinct places.
Enoch is officially commissioned to write and preserve these revelations for the righteous generation to come.
Enoch is shown the mysteries of time, celestial cycles, and the structure of sacred seasons — including how the divine rhythm governs creation, feast days, and the unfolding of destiny.
Chapters 23–29: Sacred Time, Divine Speech, and the Foundation of Matter
———
The Most High said to me:
“Enoch, I will now show you the secret of time.”
I saw a great heavenly mechanism —
wheels within wheels,
and flames that turned without ceasing.
This was the Eternal Clock,
which governed the rise and fall of light,
the motion of stars,
and the seasons of the earth.
Each moment had its measure,
and each day its decree.
———
I saw the place from which light goes out,
and into which it returns —
a river of fire flowing from the mouth of the Set-Apart One.
His Word is light,
and His voice separates day from night.
The sun and stars are fed by this river —
they do not burn by their own power,
but by the command of the Eternal Flame.
———
The Most High said:
“Before any creature was made,
I measured the length of days and nights.”
“I established the beginning of spring,
the rising of the sun,
and the resting of the moon.”
“I set Sabbaths, seasons, and festivals
to be signs for the children of men,
that they might walk in rhythm with heaven.”
“The wise will understand the times,
and they shall not be caught unaware.”
———
“I formed the earth in silence,
laying it upon nothing,
stretching it out like a scroll.”
“I gathered the waters into one place,
and the land rose as a bride in her beauty.”
“I placed mountains as stakes,
and rivers as living paths.”
“I named every root,
and numbered every grain of sand.”
———
“Then I spread the heavens like a tent,
and placed in them the lights that serve the earth.”
“I created seven heavens — each with its purpose:
praise, wisdom, order, mercy, justice, memory, and glory.”
“I filled them with messengers of light,
and appointed rulers over the days, months, and years.”
———
“Then I made the spirits —
invisible ones who serve My will.”
“Some carry fire,
others wind, rain, or wisdom.”
“Each was given a task —
none act without purpose.”
“But among them, I reserved a remnant,
messengers of truth and justice,
to watch over those who walk in light.”
———
“On the sixth day, I formed man from the earth,
breathing My breath into him,
and making him a living being.”
“I gave him authority over all that lives,
and taught him to walk in My ways.”
“But some of the spiritual ones defied their order —
descending to the earth,
and leading mankind into rebellion.”
“Their names are known to Me,
and their judgment shall not sleep.”
Enoch sees the Eternal Clock — the divine system that governs time, seasons, and light.
He is taught that light itself flows from the voice and breath of God, not from stars alone.
God reveals how He created the earth, heavens, spiritual beings, and sacred festivals before anything was made.
The chapter ends with the creation of man, and the foreshadowing of the rebellion of the Watchers — who broke divine order by defiling creation.
God reveals to Enoch the book of destinies, the purpose of humanity, and the division of time into moral seasons — including a warning about the coming flood and the hope of those who walk in wisdom.
Chapters 30–34: The Destiny of Man, the Moral Ages, and the Coming Judgment
———
The Most High said to me:
“I created man with two paths —
one leading to life, the other to destruction.”
“I gave him understanding,
and placed before him the light of trust and the shadow of rebellion.”
“Let him choose, and let him eat the fruit of his way.”
“I made him neither a slave nor a beast,
but a living being, crowned with breath.”
“To some I give clarity,
to others, dullness of mind —
for I know the hearts of all men.”
———
“There are seven ages appointed in the cycle of the world:”
Innocence — when truth first walked among men.
Disobedience — when lawlessness entered through deception.
Cleansing — the flood shall wash away corruption.
Covenant — the law shall be written and taught.
Scattering — the nations shall stray from wisdom.
Visitation — the Anointed One shall come and restore many.
Rest — the righteous shall inherit joy, and evil shall end.
“Blessed is the one who lives according to the time he is given,
and watches for what is to come.”
———
“But many have hardened their hearts,
mocking the messengers and forgetting My covenant.”
“They heap up wealth,
but starve the poor.”
“They multiply idols,
but silence the voice of truth.”
“Therefore, a flood shall come to purify the earth.
But My righteous ones I will remember,
and their names shall be written in My book.”
———
“Do not think that I forget the deeds of men.”
“I see the tears of the oppressed
and the silence of the wise.”
“I measure every word,
and preserve every act done in trust.”
“The days of the proud are short,
but the joy of the faithful is eternal.”
———
Then the Eternal One said to me:
“Enoch, return to your house of flesh.
Speak to your children and their children after them.”
“Tell them of all that you have seen,
and warn them of the judgment to come.”
“Let them know that time is not endless,
and all things move toward fulfillment.”
“Teach them to walk in truth,
and I will be with them always.”
God reveals that humanity has been given the power to choose, and that all souls are accountable for their path.
The history of the world is laid out in seven moral ages, leading from innocence to final rest.
Enoch is warned about the coming flood, and commanded to return to earth with a message of urgency and hope.
The Most High affirms that He sees and remembers every deed, and that nothing escapes His justice.
Enoch returns to earth temporarily and gathers his sons and elders. He begins to pass on the divine wisdom, commission his descendants, and prepare for his final departure — as the scroll begins to transition from vision to legacy.
Chapters 35–41: Enoch’s Return, His Teachings, and the Passing On of Wisdom
———
After I had seen all that the Most High showed me,
I was returned by the messengers to my house.
My children came running to me,
for I had been taken from them for many days.
They were astonished,
for my face shone like fire,
and the light of heaven was still upon me.
But I said to them,
“Do not be afraid. The Eternal One has shown me great things.
Gather the people, for I must speak what I have received.”
———
I sent for the elders of the people,
the rulers and the wise,
and they came and sat before me.
I told them all the words the Most High had spoken —
of the creation, of the fall, of the judgment to come,
and of the reward for the righteous.
And I said:
“Turn from your violence.
Love what is good.
For the time is short,
and the flood draws near.”
———
Then I took a scroll,
and I wrote in it all the things I had seen and heard —
from the first heaven to the seventh,
and from the birth of man to the end of the age.
I sealed the scrolls with my name,
and I placed them in the hands of my eldest son, Methuselah.
And I said,
“Guard these writings.
They are not for this generation alone,
but for those who will walk in the days of darkness.”
———
I said to my sons:
“There are two paths —
one of life, and one of destruction.”
“The way of life is marked by humility,
mercy, justice, and truth.”
“The way of death is filled with greed,
pride, falsehood, and cruelty.”
“Choose wisely, my children,
for each will reap what he sows.”
———
“The Most High gives a light to the righteous —
it is not the sun, nor a lamp,
but the light of wisdom.”
“It shines within the heart,
and it keeps the soul from stumbling.”
“Those who walk in this light
shall never be shaken,
even when the world falls around them.”
———
“Blessed is the one
who shares bread with the hungry,
who lifts up the lowly,
and who walks in silence before the Creator.”
“His reward shall be a name that does not perish,
and his inheritance shall not fade.”
“The wicked shall vanish like smoke,
but the righteous shall shine like the dawn.”
———
“Do not seek to be great in this world,
for the eyes of the Most High are on the humble.”
“He exalts the one who bends low,
and He remembers the one who forgives.”
“The proud build towers that crumble,
but the meek plant seeds that grow forever.”
Enoch returns home glowing with heavenly light, gathers his family and community, and begins teaching.
He warns of the flood, records divine revelation in scrolls, and gives them to Methuselah to preserve.
His message emphasizes the two paths, the inner light of wisdom, and the unseen reward of the righteous.
Enoch’s tone shifts from heavenly vision to prophetic call — preparing his people before his final departure.
These chapters contain Enoch’s final teachings, his farewell blessing, and the sacred charge to preserve the scrolls. The narrative nears its conclusion as Enoch prepares to depart the earth forever.
Chapters 42–48: Wisdom Withdraws, Enoch’s Final Counsel, and the Command to Preserve the Scrolls
———
Wisdom went forth to dwell among the sons of men,
but she found no resting place.
She returned to her throne in the heavens,
and took her seat among the messengers of light.
Righteousness, too, was sent forth —
but she found the doors closed,
and truth was cast out into the streets.
So both withdrew,
and the earth was left in darkness.
———
Enoch said to his sons:
“I have written everything I saw in heaven and on earth,
in light and in darkness.”
“Take these scrolls,
and do not hide them.”
“Give them to the wise,
to those who fear the Most High,
and they will teach others.”
“For these words are not mine,
but the words of the Eternal One.”
———
Enoch said:
“There is one mystery I am not permitted to speak —
it is sealed until the appointed time.”
“But know this:
the Righteous One shall arise,
and truth will return to the earth.”
“Then wisdom shall once again walk with men,
and those who receive her
shall live without fear.”
———
Then Enoch blessed his sons, saying:
“May the Most High guide your steps.
May He grant you peace and understanding.”
“Let your hearts not grow proud,
nor your hands be swift to harm.”
“May your houses be filled with kindness,
and your names be remembered among the righteous.”
“Walk in the ways of mercy,
and the Eternal One shall remember you.”
———
Enoch lifted his voice to the elders and scribes:
“Do not twist what is written.
Do not use the law for gain.”
“The one who adds to the Word will be found guilty.
The one who takes from it shall have no part in the life to come.”
“Speak plainly. Judge fairly.
For the books are open before the Most High,
and nothing will be hidden on the day of account.”
———
“I saw the Temple of the Most High —
not built with hands,
nor of wood or stone,
but formed of light and song.”
“In that place, all nations shall gather,
and the face of the Anointed One shall shine among them.”
“There will be no sacrifice,
for the hearts of the righteous will be the altar.”
“And the word of truth will be written on every soul.”
———
“Do not despair, my children,
though the earth is dark and many stumble.”
“A remnant shall rise —
poor in spirit but rich in trust.”
“They will not follow crowds,
nor worship idols of power or pride.”
“They will walk with the Breath of the Most High,
and their reward shall be everlasting light.”
“To them the scrolls will speak again,
and the path of life will be made known.”
Wisdom and Righteousness withdraw from the earth, unable to find hearts prepared to receive them.
Enoch gives his sons the command to preserve the scrolls and pass them on to the wise.
He blesses his descendants, warns the scribes not to corrupt the truth, and prophesies a future temple of light and a righteous remnant.
The tone becomes both urgent and hopeful, anticipating a time when truth returns through the Anointed One and those who walk in the Spirit.
These chapters contain Enoch’s final teachings, including a deeper warning to those who exploit the innocent, the destiny of souls, and the final public announcement of his departure from the earth.

Chapters 49–58: The Fate of the Wicked, the Reward of the Righteous, and Enoch’s Public Farewell
———
Enoch said:
“Woe to those who defile the covenant,
who trample the poor and silence the humble.”
“You build altars with blood,
and your prayers rise from mouths full of lies.”
“You shall be repaid for every false weight,
every bribe, every word of flattery spoken in court.”
“You have made the law a weapon,
and righteousness a game.”
———
“When the wicked die,
their souls shall not enter the Garden of Rest.”
“They shall wander in the dark air,
weighed down by their own deeds.”
“No angel shall come to greet them,
and no voice shall call their name.”
“They shall remember every word they spoke
and tremble, knowing their judgment is sealed.”
———
“But the souls of the righteous shall rejoice.”
“When they die, the messengers of peace shall carry them gently,
and they shall dwell in chambers of light.”
“They shall rest in the bosom of the Set-Apart One,
and their names shall be read before the throne daily.”
“In the resurrection, they shall shine like stars,
and walk with the Anointed One in the age to come.”
———
Then Enoch summoned the people
and stood before the congregation.
He lifted his voice and said:
“I was taken by the messengers of the Most High.
I saw the secrets of the heavens and the scrolls of eternity.”
“What I have spoken is true.
I did not learn it from men,
but from the One who formed all things.”
“Let no one turn from these words,
for the hour is coming
when truth will be tested like fire.”
———
“Woe to the proud and unrepentant!
You are like dry wood before a flame.”
“You shall not stand in the presence of the Righteous One.
Your wealth will burn, and your followers will scatter.”
“You mock the scrolls now,
but in the day of justice,
they will testify against you.”
———
“Blessed is the one who reads and walks in these words.”
“He shall be like a tree by living water.
His house shall not fall in the storm.”
“Even if he is mocked in this life,
he will be honored in the age of light.”
“His name shall not be erased,
and his place shall be prepared
near the throne of the Most High.”
———
“You build houses and cities,
but do not build wisdom.”
“You store up food and silver,
but forget compassion.”
“Your barns will rot,
but the kindness you show
shall rise like incense.”
———
“The Word of the Eternal One shall not pass away.”
“Even if the stars fall
and the mountains are shaken,
the law of truth shall remain.”
“Let no one say, ‘This was for another time.’
The righteous obey in every age.”
———
“Who is like the Most High,
who weighs the heart and counts every breath?”
“Who set the stars in their places,
and knows the name of every soul?”
“Lift up your eyes, children of the earth!
He is not far from you.
Even now His Spirit calls.”
———
Then Enoch said to his sons:
“My time is near. I must return to the place prepared for me.”
“Do not forget the words I have spoken.
Guard the scrolls and walk in them.”
“Teach your children and your neighbors.
Let no generation rise in ignorance.”
“For truth is the inheritance of the righteous,
and wisdom is the crown of the humble.”
Enoch publicly exposes the sins of corrupt rulers and scribes, warning of divine fire.
He teaches about the fate of souls after death — both righteous and wicked.
A solemn call is made to receive and protect the scrolls, to build with eternal values, and to fear not the judgment of men.
The section ends with Enoch announcing his departure, passing the torch of truth to those who will carry it forward.
Enoch delivers his final commands, assigns roles to his descendants, and departs the earth — not by death, but by heavenly ascent. These closing chapters seal his legacy as the first prophet, scribe, and son of light.
Chapters 59–68: Enoch’s Final Commands, Blessings, and Farewell to the People
———
After teaching the elders, Enoch called for his sons again.
They came to him—Methuselah, Regim, Gaidad, and the rest.
Enoch said:
“Draw near to me, my children,
for I have one more charge to give you.”
“My days among you are few.
I will return to the place from which I was taken,
and you shall not see me again in this flesh.”
———
“These scrolls I give to you,
for they are the breath of life and the lamp of the soul.”
“Do not hide them from the righteous,
but guard them from the scoffers.”
“In every generation, there shall be a remnant who seeks truth.
Teach them as I have taught you.”
“And the Most High will walk with them,
even in days of darkness.”
———
Enoch lifted his hands and blessed his sons:
“Blessed are the meek, for their name shall endure.
Blessed are those who forgive, for they shall be forgiven.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall inherit joy.”
“The proud will fall,
but the humble will be lifted up in the day of light.”
———
“Woe to the one who changes what is written!
His name shall be erased from the scroll of life.”
“Woe to the one who teaches for profit,
and turns righteousness into a trade.”
“The fire of justice awaits such as these.
Their reward will be their own shame.”
———
Enoch came before the gathered people and said:
“You have heard my words,
and you have seen my light.”
“I have not spoken in riddles,
but in truth and clarity.”
“Choose this day whom you will serve:
the path of light or the path of death.”
———
Enoch placed his hands upon Methuselah and said:
“You shall guard these scrolls.
Copy them with care.
Hide them where the righteous will find them,
but the wicked will not touch them.”
“Let your house be a house of truth,
and your sons servants of wisdom.”
———
Then Enoch blessed each of his sons by name,
and their children who stood nearby.
“May the peace of the Eternal One rest upon you.
May you walk with integrity all your days.”
“Let not your eyes chase after greed,
nor your hands cling to violence.”
“In the day of testing,
may you be found faithful.”
———
That night, Enoch saw in a dream a people yet to come.
They were few, but pure —
rejected by the world,
but embraced by the Most High.
“These,” said the Voice,
“shall carry your words like fire.
And they shall walk in paths long forgotten.”
“They shall not fear kings or crowds,
for truth shall be their shelter.”
———
Enoch rose early and clothed himself in linen.
He washed his face,
and his countenance shone like the stars.
A great crowd gathered to hear his final words.
“The time has come,” he said,
“for me to return to the place from which I came.”
“Do not seek me, for you will not find me.
But remember the words I have left with you.”
———
And suddenly, two messengers of light appeared beside him.
They took Enoch by the hand,
and a chariot of wind and flame descended from heaven.
The people fell on their faces,
and some wept,
for they knew this was the last time they would see him.
As Enoch rose into the sky,
a voice cried out:
“This is the one who pleased the Most High.
He shall dwell with the messengers forever.”
Enoch delivers his final teachings, warnings, and blessings to his sons and to the people.
He publicly announces his departure and commissions Methuselah to guard and preserve the scrolls.
A vision is given of a future remnant generation who will carry Enoch’s words in a dark time.
Enoch is finally taken up in a chariot of light, his earthly mission complete.
These remaining chapters are added epilogues in the longer version of 2 Enoch. They include prayers, songs of the righteous, Enoch’s final heavenly placement, and closing exhortations for those who wait for the end of the age.
Chapters 69–73: Enoch's Placement in Glory and Final Words to the Wise
———
After I was taken up,
I was brought before the face of the Most High.
The voice of the Eternal One said:
“Let Enoch take his place among My servants.”
I was set between Gabriel on the left and Michael on the right,
and clothed in robes of glory.
My tongue was loosed,
and I sang songs known only to those who dwell in light.
———
And I heard the righteous singing in the seventh heaven:
“Great is the Most High,
who reveals wonders and remembers mercy.”
“He opens His storehouses of light,
and clothes the humble with honor.”
“He watches over the orphan and the exile,
and forgets not the tears of the lowly.”
Their voices rose like incense,
and joy was upon their faces.
———
Then I was shown two scrolls.
One was written in gold and shone with light —
this was the scroll of the living,
where the names of the righteous were recorded.
The other was sealed in shadow —
this was the scroll of the dead,
where the unrepentant were remembered for judgment.
I asked, “Can one pass from death to life?”
And the voice said,
“Let the one who turns to truth with all his heart be restored.
For mercy is My desire, not destruction.”
———
I saw the day when the books shall be opened,
and all things laid bare.
Thrones were set,
and the Anointed One stood at the center.
The stars ceased their song,
and the nations were gathered.
Every soul was called by name,
and each was measured by the weight of their deeds.
The righteous were lifted in joy,
and the wicked faded like smoke.
———
And now I, Enoch, bless those who will read and believe these words.
Blessed are those who long for truth,
though they walk in a world of lies.
Blessed are those who love justice,
though they are hated for it.
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for they shall inherit the glory I have seen.
Keep the words of this scroll,
for they are a light in dark days
and a compass for the remnant.
Enoch is exalted among the heavenly messengers, seated in glory, and given a voice in the divine chorus.
The scrolls of the living and dead reveal both justice and mercy at the final judgment.
A prophetic vision is given of the Day of Reckoning, centered around the Anointed One.
Enoch closes with a blessing to the remnant — those who will seek truth and preserve the scrolls.
