Sibylline Oracles Book I
Sibylline Oracles Book I
This scroll, attributed to the Sibyl — a prophetic voice among the Gentiles — offers a vision remarkably aligned with Hebrew and early Christian revelations. This restored version draws directly from Book I of the Greek Sibylline Oracles, long considered part of the ancient “outsider prophecies” referenced by early believers (cf. Acts 17:28).
Its voice is female, fierce, and full of cosmic warning — revealing the justice of God, the destruction of wickedness, and the age to come. It is not a poem of myth but a vision of divine fire and mercy from the margins of empire. Here, the Gentile prophetess becomes a herald to the nations.
———
In the beginning, God alone existed —
the Breath who made all visible and unseen.
He formed the sky, and spread the land,
and by His word, all things stood in place.
The sun and moon obey His command,
and stars dance in appointed paths.
The sea trembles beneath His eye,
and winds rise at His whisper.
No image made by man’s hand
can claim His likeness.
He is One — unshaped, unseen,
dwelling in unapproachable light.
———
He formed the race of men from clay,
fashioned with wisdom and breath.
He gave eyes to see, ears to hear,
and planted in them the light of reason.
But they turned from the pure path,
and bent their hearts toward idols.
They forgot the One who made them,
and bowed to stone and silver.
He sent fire, flood, and famine —
but they did not turn back.
Still, He waited — long in mercy,
grieving over the ruin of His design.
———
Then came the days of Noah —
righteous among a violent world.
God warned, but men mocked.
He instructed, but they closed their ears.
The waters rose by divine decree,
and all flesh was swept away.
But in the ark, a remnant endured —
eight souls sealed by trust.
And from them, the earth was renewed.
———
But soon the nations again multiplied vanity.
They built towers to reach the sky,
and named themselves gods.
They worshipped beasts and stars,
and kindled incense to the dead.
They carved out temples for demons,
and called darkness divine.
But the Most High sees all.
He measures every act.
The blood of the innocent
does not go unnoticed.
———
There shall come a day of reckoning —
a flame not kindled by men.
Fire shall fall from heaven,
and cities shall melt like wax.
Kings shall hide in the earth,
and the proud will be brought low.
The sea shall rise above the mountains,
and stars will fall from their places.
The voice of the Most High will thunder:
“Enough.”
And time shall be no more.
———
But then shall come the Son of the Most High —
not with spear, but with word.
Not in wrath, but in justice.
He shall destroy the idols of men,
and cleanse the altars of lies.
He shall gather the righteous from every land,
and teach the nations truth.
The wolf and lamb shall lie down,
and children shall play in safety.
There will be no more sword,
for peace shall reign from sea to sea.
He shall be called King of the Age to Come,
and all peoples shall honor His name.
———
Books shall be opened in heaven,
and every secret revealed.
The deeds of kings,
the cries of slaves,
the prayers of the humble —
all shall rise like smoke.
Those who fed the hungry
shall be crowned with light.
Those who shed blood
shall reap their reward.
No bribe shall silence the Judge.
———
The earth shall give up the dead,
and graves shall no longer hold.
The sea shall return its buried,
and the dust shall awaken with breath.
The righteous shall shine like the stars,
and be clothed with glory.
The wicked shall tremble in shame,
for their end is sealed.
This is the second birth —
for those written in the scroll of life.
———
Then shall descend the City of God,
adorned like a bride for her beloved.
No temple shall be in her,
for the Most High shall dwell among them.
No sun shall be needed,
for light shall go forth from the Anointed.
There shall be no death,
no pain,
no night.
For the Former Things shall pass away.
And a voice shall cry:
“Behold — I make all things new.”
Let all who hear this prophecy take heed.
Let the proud tremble,
and the humble rejoice.
Turn from the idols of gold and pride.
Worship the One who made heaven and earth.
For His word does not fail,
and His justice is never late.
The fire is prepared.
The crown is prepared.
And time is short.
Blessed are those who trust in the Holy One —
for they shall inherit the age of light.
