Manichaean Psalm-Book Fragments
[Archive witness: a comparative late-antique text, preserved as historical evidence, not as doctrine or scripture.]
Fragments of the psalms of the Manichaean church, sung in praise of the Light and in longing for the soul’s release.
Let us worship the Spirit of the Paraclete;
let us bless our Lord, the Light.
The soul that was scattered in the darkness
is gathered and led to the light.
Glory and honor to the Father of lights,
and to his beloved children.
My soul, set your hope on the light; do not love the world of darkness that passes away. The harbor of the saved is the world of light; there is no death there, and no grief, but life forever. [Line damaged]
