Mandaean Qolasta — Prayer Selections
[Archive witness: a comparative late-antique text, preserved as historical evidence, not as doctrine or scripture.]
Selections from the canonical prayers of the Mandaeans, used in the rites of the soul.
In the name of the Great Life,
may the soul be set free and ascend.
I go toward my likeness,
and my likeness comes toward me;
it embraces me and draws me near,
as if I had come out of captivity.
The soul speaks: I go to behold the light; I go to the place where the sun does not set, and the lamps do not grow dim. The good ones receive me, and lead me to the dwelling of the great first Life, the place of which there is no end. [Text missing]
