Manichaean Kephalaia — Prayer Extracts

[Archive witness: a comparative late-antique text, preserved as historical evidence, not as doctrine or scripture.]

Prayer extracts drawn from the Kephalaia, the chapters of the teaching of Mani.

The disciples asked the enlightener, and he answered concerning the prayer of the soul: that the soul, remembering its homeland of light, should lift up its voice and call upon the Father of greatness, and upon the Light-Mind, that they might strengthen it against the powers of darkness. [Line damaged]

Blessed are you, Father of greatness;

blessed is your beloved, the Light;

blessed are the messengers you send

to gather the scattered light

and bring it home.
