Infancy Gospel of Thomas
Infancy Gospel of Thomas
When Yeshua was five years old,
He played by a stream of running water.
He shaped twelve sparrows out of clay.
And when a passerby rebuked Him for “working” on the Sabbath,
He clapped His hands and said:
“Fly.”
And the birds came to life and flew away.
Another child splashed the pools Yeshua had gathered.
And Yeshua said,
“May your stream dry up.”
And it did.
His parents corrected Him,
saying, “Bless, don’t curse.”
Yeshua wept,
and turned back to the stream,
restoring the water to flow again.
A child fell from a rooftop and died.
Others blamed Yeshua, saying He pushed him.
Yeshua went to the boy,
called him by name,
and said:
“Rise, and tell them the truth.”
And the boy stood up and said,
“He did not harm me.”
And then lay down again in peace.
Joseph feared the words of the people,
and asked Mary:
“What shall we do with a child like this?”
Yeshua turned and said,
“Do not fear.
I came to do the will of the One who sent Me.”
And He returned to silence.
A teacher named Zacchaeus was appointed to teach Yeshua letters.
He began with the Aleph.
Yeshua asked,
“What is the meaning of Aleph?
And before you teach me the Bet,
tell me the nature of the Breath that speaks it.”
The teacher was silent.
The child then recited the alphabet forward and backward,
then began to interpret the letters as mysteries of creation.
The teacher marveled
and left, saying:
“This child is not to be taught by men.”
Joseph was building a bed for a poor man.
One of the beams was cut too short.
Yeshua laid His hands on the wood
and stretched it to match the other.
The onlookers were amazed.
Joseph said,
“This child is my blessing and my test.”
A boy ran into the village wall and fell unconscious.
The villagers again accused Yeshua.
He went to the boy,
touched his head,
and prayed.
The boy woke,
sat up,
and said:
“I fell by my own feet — he did not touch me.”
A boy insulted Yeshua and mocked His learning.
Yeshua looked at him,
and the boy was struck mute.
Mary rebuked her son,
and Yeshua wept.
He laid His hands on the boy
and said:
“Be healed.”
And from that day, Yeshua no longer acted in wrath,
but only in restoration.
Teachers and elders from nearby towns came to see the child.
They asked Him questions about the Law,
the Prophets,
the Sabbath,
and the Breath of God.
He answered with simplicity and depth.
And one said,
“Truly, this is the child Isaiah foresaw.”
When Yeshua turned twelve,
He traveled with His parents to Jerusalem
for the Feast of the Passover.
And on the third day,
He was found in the temple
speaking with the teachers,
and asking questions that turned their hearts.
Mary said,
“Why have You done this to us?”
Yeshua replied,
“Did you not know
I must be in My Father’s house?”
