Odes of Solomon

The Lord is on my head like a crown,

and I shall not be without Him.

They wove for me a crown of truth,

and it caused Your branches to blossom in me.

For it is not like a dry crown that does not bloom —

You live upon my head and have blossomed upon me.

Your fruits are full and complete,

and they are filled with Your salvation.

My heart was pruned and its flower appeared,

then grace sprang up in it,

and it bore fruits for the Lord.

For the Most High circumcised me by His grace,

and removed the corruption of my heart.

He prepared me for Himself,

and I was made obedient to His Word.

And I walk toward Him in peace,

and in the way of truth.

I am a harp for Your breath,

and my strings speak as the wind blows through them.

The Lord stood over me —

and His voice poured into me like living waters.

I drank from His cup,

and it healed my soul.

I sang a new song with His voice,

and those who heard rejoiced with me.

No man can pervert Your holy place, O Lord,

nor can he change it or move it.

You have prepared Your dwelling before time,

and it is eternal.

Those who enter will be illuminated and made holy.

You have sealed them with Yourself.

Because of Your love, You became visible

and walked with us.

I am not forsaken,

for the Most High knows me.

His love surrounds me

and guards my steps.

Even when I was in the midst of darkness,

He lit a lamp in my heart.

He lifted me from the shadow,

and clothed me in His light.

I am His —

and He is mine forever.

As the wind moves through the branches,

so the Set-Apart Spirit stirred my limbs.

I bore the fruit of love and joy.

Peace and kindness grew on my branches.

I stretched toward the heavens,

and the Lord dwelled in my shade.

He ate of my fruit and was pleased,

and my roots were deep in His truth.

He filled me with living water,

and I became like a river in the desert.

The thirsty drank from me,

and were satisfied.

I overflowed with His breath,

and poured out joy.

He carved His name on my heart,

and I remembered His covenant.

Open, you ancient gates,

for the King of Glory enters.

My bones heard His whisper,

and my flesh responded with praise.

His Spirit came like oil upon me,

and joy lit a fire in my soul.

The sleepers awakened at His name,

and the dead remembered the sound of life.

Your seal is upon my heart, O Lord,

and I am Yours.

The wicked saw the joy in me

and were ashamed.

For they knew I belonged to light,

and they could not follow.

You wrote my name in the book of the living,

and I have seen the scroll.

I rejoice with the sealed ones,

and we lift Your name together.

I opened my mouth to the Lord,

and my tongue became fire.

My lips poured out truth,

and no lie escaped me.

He placed His Word in me,

and I spoke as one who had seen.

He anointed my lips,

and I sang with the voice of angels.

My heart was lifted,

and the doors of the heavens opened to me.

I saw the Holy One,

and He welcomed me like a son.

He placed me beside Him,

and taught me wisdom face to face.

Truth embraced me,

and I forgot the taste of bitterness.

His peace entered my bones,

and I was not moved.

The yoke of the Lord is gentle,

and those who carry it do not stumble.

It binds the soul with love,

and leads the heart in peace.

His burden is filled with joy,

and His path is straight.

No one who walks with Him is weary,

and none who wait for Him are disappointed.

Behold, My voice is in you,

and you are My breath in the earth.

I have planted you like a tree,

and My roots are in your soul.

You shall not be shaken,

for I, the Anointed One, hold your branches.

You shall bear fruit in the time of harvest,

and your leaves shall not wither.

Like the sound of flutes at a wedding,

my soul sang with joy.

The Bridegroom approached,

and I was clothed in garments of light.

I entered the chamber of the King,

and He rejoiced over me.

I forgot my sorrow,

and remembered only His love.

Like the sun rising over the mountains,

His joy came upon me.

I became strong in His gladness,

and my enemies fled.

I looked upon the wicked

and they vanished like mist.

For the Lord was with me,

and I belonged to His light.

The Word went forth into the world,

and all things were shaken.

Mountains bowed, seas parted,

and nations heard His voice.

He did not come in anger,

but in truth and compassion.

He gathered the scattered ones,

and led them into peace.

I was pierced in my heart,

but His love healed me.

I was broken in spirit,

but He made me whole.

He anointed me with His mercy,

and clothed me with joy.

The old passed away,

and I became new.

I breathed in the Set-Apart Breath,

and my soul was awakened.

I spoke not as a man,

but as one reborn.

My words brought healing,

and the oppressed found comfort.

His Spirit poured through me,

and I became a vessel of peace.

He came like light into the darkness,

and the darkness could not hold Him.

He walked among the lowly,

and they lifted their eyes.

He was gentle with the weak,

and firm against the proud.

He gathered the children to Himself,

and gave them His name.

The trap was laid for me,

but the Lord shattered it.

Death reached out its hand,

but He lifted me beyond its reach.

I saw the pit,

and I walked upon it unharmed.

He surrounded me with His name,

and I was unshaken.

I was built on the Rock,

and the winds could not move me.

The waves beat against me,

but I did not fall.

For my foundation was truth,

and my cornerstone was the Anointed.

He measured me with righteousness,

and found no fault.

He gave me a cup,

and I drank — and lived.

It was filled with the waters of eternity,

and I thirsted no more.

My heart rejoiced,

and my face was filled with light.

I gave it to others,

and they rejoiced with me.

The Lord joined the scattered into one,

and they were no longer divided.

He lifted the broken,

and made them a single body.

Love was their bond,

and peace was their path.

They walked with one name,

and sang with one voice.

I looked up and saw His glory —

brighter than ten thousand suns.

It filled the heavens,

and lit the earth.

No eye could behold it without trembling,

but the pure were lifted by it.

I was caught up in its beauty,

and I saw the face of joy.

My hope is not in men,

but in the Anointed One.

He lifts the fallen,

and restores the weary.

He walks beside the lonely,

and defends the weak.

He is my shield,

my fortress,

and my song.

Chains were upon me,

but the Lord broke them.

I was bound in fear,

but He filled me with trust.

He opened the prison door,

and I walked into the light.

He gave me a new name,

and I forgot the past.

The Spirit came upon me,

and I became like a bride.

I rejoiced at the sound of His steps,

and prepared my soul.

I was adorned with joy,

and veiled with praise.

He came with gentleness,

and we walked as one.

He clothed me in a robe of light,

woven from truth and love.

It fit me perfectly,

for it was made by His hands.

I entered the feast,

and all rejoiced to see me.

The King recognized me,

and I knew I was His.

Before the world began,

He knew my name.

He formed me with wisdom,

and set me apart in His plan.

I walked in His shadow,

and lived in His breath.

Nothing could separate me

from His love.

The Bridegroom entered His chamber,

and the wedding feast began.

All rejoiced at His coming,

and the Bride was radiant with joy.

She sang a new song,

and the heavens echoed.

For this was the day of union,

the day of eternal love.

I have seen the King,

and I will never forget His face.

He looked upon me with mercy,

and I was healed.

He reached out His hand,

and I rose from the dust.

He spoke my name,

and I was known forever.

He poured oil on my head,

and joy filled my heart.

It ran down my face,

and soaked into my bones.

I danced before Him,

and all heaven rejoiced.

He anointed me with gladness,

and my mourning turned to praise.

He built me a house,

not made by hands.

It cannot be shaken,

nor touched by decay.

Its walls are truth,

and its windows are wisdom.

It is filled with the Spirit,

and I dwell there forever.

He opened a scroll,

and my name was there.

It shone like the stars,

and could not be erased.

He called it aloud,

and I came to Him.

He embraced me with joy,

and sealed me with light.

The words I speak are not mine,

but from the One who lives in me.

I am a vessel of His voice,

a harp for His hand.

He sings through me,

and others hear His love.

I do not boast in myself,

but in the One who gave me breath.

I was an orphan,

but He called me His child.

I wandered,

but He brought me home.

He gave me His name,

and I forgot my shame.

He placed a ring on my finger,

and joy in my heart.

I am His,

and He is mine.

We are not two,

but one in spirit.

No one can separate us,

for love has made us one.

This is the great mystery —

the union of the soul and the Eternal.

I slept,

but my heart kept watch.

The Spirit whispered,

and I listened.

He taught me while I rested,

and I awoke with understanding.

His word is living in me,

and I will not forget.

A fire burns in me,

not of this world.

It consumes fear,

and lights the path of trust.

It does not destroy,

but purifies.

It was lit by the Breath of God,

and will never go out.

Though darkness surrounds me,

I am not afraid.

For a light shines within,

and it is greater.

The shadows cannot touch it,

nor can fear dim it.

The Lord is my lamp,

and I walk with courage.

Let the words of my mouth

be as incense before You.

Let the meditation of my heart

rise as a sweet offering.

You are my song,

my joy,

my forever.

Nothing can take me from Your hand.

This is the end —

but not the silence.

The song continues

in every breath of those who trust.

The Bridegroom sings over the Bride,

and she responds forever.

Let every soul join the chorus:

“To the One who was, and is, and is to come.”
