The Hymn to the Creator

Great and holy is the LORD,

the holiest of holy ones for every generation.

Majesty goes before him,

and behind him the rush of many waters.

Mercy and truth are about his face;

truth and justice and righteousness are the foundation of his throne.

He divided light from darkness;

by the knowledge of his mind he established the dawn.

When all his angels saw it, they sang aloud,

for he showed them what they had not known:

he crowns the hills with fruit,

good food for every living thing.

Blessed be the maker of the earth by his power,

who establishes the world by his wisdom.

By his understanding he stretched out the heavens,

and brought forth the wind from his storehouses.

He made lightnings for the rain,

and raised the mist from the ends of the earth.
