Pseudo-Daniel

[Daniel set before the king recounts the course of the ages, from the beginning to the end; preserved in fragments.]

Daniel stood before the nobles of the king and the assembled court, and he spoke. [Text missing] He recounted what came to pass from the days after the flood, and the building of the tower, and the scattering of the peoples; and he told of Abraham, and of the going down into Egypt, and the coming out by a strong hand.

And he told how the people sinned and were given over, and how they were carried into exile among the nations because they forsook the covenant; and how for a number of years they would be ruled by the kingdoms — [Line damaged] — and afterward the holy ones would rise, and the kingdom would be given to the people of God, and they would walk in everlasting truth.

[And it is written there:] some shall go astray, but those who hold fast shall be gathered, and they shall stand and possess the kingdom forever. [Text missing]
