Psalm Amulets and Scriptural Protection Texts
[Archive witness: an ancient protective or ritual text, preserved as historical evidence — not doctrine, and not for practice.]
Amulets and small writings bearing verses of the Psalms and other Scriptures, worn for protection — most often the ninety-first psalm, called of old the song against harm. Representative wording:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
you will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day.
“For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.” These words were copied onto amulets and set upon the body or the doorway, as a keeping. [Text missing]
