Confessional Prayers from Qumran

We have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly, we and our fathers before us, by walking contrary to the statutes of your covenant. You are righteous, O Lord, in all that has come upon us, for you have acted faithfully, and we have done wickedly. [Text missing]

And now, our God, hear the prayer of your servants and our pleas for mercy; turn your anger from your people, and do not remember against us the iniquities of those of old. Heal our turning away, and circumcise the foreskin of our heart, that we may love your name. [Line damaged]

For not because of our righteousness do we bring our pleas before you, but because of your great mercy. Forgive, O Lord; hearken and act; do not delay, for your own sake, O our God. [Text missing]
