Cave of Treasures — Wisdom and Prayer Extracts
[Archive witness: extracts of wisdom and prayer from the Cave of Treasures, a Syriac retelling of sacred history. The narrative as a whole is larger; here the prayer and wisdom portions are drawn out.]
When Adam was driven from the garden, he and Eve went down and dwelt in the Cave of Treasures, and there they laid up gold, myrrh, and frankincense; and Adam made it a place of prayer, and there the patriarchs were buried. [Text missing]
Adam said: O Lord, do not cast me off forever; remember that I am dust, and have mercy on the work of your hands. And the Lord comforted him, and said that in the fullness of time the Word would come and redeem his race, and lead them back to the place from which they fell. [Line damaged]
