Appendix C:

Understanding the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Father — A Restored View

(For inclusion in The Bible Restored Project)

1. Sacred Principle

The Bible reveals God through three primary manifestations:

as Father,

through His Son Jesus the Anointed One,

and by His Holy Spirit.

In the ancient Hebrew and early Christian understanding, these are not "three separate beings" as later creeds sometimes imply, but three expressions of the One Living God — each relating to humanity in a unique but unified way.

The Bible Restored project faithfully returns to this original, relational view — stripping away later philosophical complexities, and restoring the beautiful simplicity of God's self-revelation.

2. God the Father — The Source of Life

Meaning:

God is the Creator, Source, and Sustainer of all existence.

He is the fountain of love, truth, and life.

In Scripture:

Jesus calls Him "Father," teaching us that the essence of God is relational, personal, loving.

Restored Understanding:

Father = The Origin and Goal of all life, not a distant authority figure, but the intimate Creator who loves His children.

3. Jesus the Son — The Word Made Flesh

Meaning:

Jesus is the visible revelation of God's Word (Logos), God's wisdom and purpose clothed in human flesh.

In Scripture:

John 1: "The Word became flesh and dwelled among us."

Colossians 1: "The visible image of the invisible God."

Restored Understanding:

Jesus is not a "second god," but the living, breathing revelation of God's love, wisdom, and life within the human story — inviting humanity back into trust, healing, and union with the Father.

4. The Holy Spirit — God's Living Breath

Meaning:

Spirit (Ruach / Pneuma) = breath, wind, life-force.

The Holy Spirit is God's own life, presence, and empowering movement within and among His people.

In Scripture:

Genesis 1: God's Spirit hovers over creation.

John 3: Humans must be "born of the Spirit."

Acts 2: The Spirit fills believers with power and life.

Restored Understanding:

The Holy Spirit is not a separate entity, but the active, living breath of God — transforming, healing, and empowering creation toward restoration.

5. Relationship, Not Division

The Father, Son, and Spirit are not divided beings competing for authority. They are relational expressions of the One Living God:

Father: Source

Son: Visible Word and Anointed Leader

Spirit: Active Life and Breath

They move together with perfect unity of purpose, heart, and mission — not as three gods, but as One God known through three relational revelations.

6. The Later Trinity Doctrine — And the Restoration

Historical Note:

The formal doctrine of the Trinity was crafted in the 4th century (Nicaea 325 AD, Constantinople 381 AD) to safeguard belief against heresies, but used philosophical language ("persons," "essence") foreign to Scripture's relational simplicity.

Restoration Principle:

While honoring the relational insights preserved by the Trinity doctrine,

The Bible Restored returns to the original Scriptural simplicity:

One God — revealing Himself as Father, through the Son, and by the Spirit — to love, redeem, and restore creation.

7. Sacred Conclusion

Understanding the Father, Son, and Spirit correctly reveals:

The heart of God is relationship, not division.

The movement of God is life and restoration, not confusion or fear.

Jesus leads creation back to the Father, and the Spirit breathes God's life into all who trust Him.

This is the true Good News: God’s fullness, moving through Father, Son, and Spirit, inviting all creation back into life, love, and unbroken trust.

8. Expanded Understanding of the Spirit — Glossary and Usage Protocol

To assist readers in encountering the Spirit as the biblical authors intended, this appendix includes a Spirit Glossary and Translation Protocol to guide contextual rendering of the Greek *Hágion Pneûma* and Hebrew *Ruach HaKodesh*.

### Spirit Glossary — Restored Terms:

Set-Apart Spirit**: The most literal rendering of *Hágion Pneûma*. Used by default. Refers to God’s sacred, empowering presence.

Sacred Breath**: Used when the emphasis is on God's breath imparting life, such as in Genesis 2 or John 20.

Wind of the Most High**: Used in poetic or powerful expressions of divine movement, such as Acts 2 or Ezekiel 37.

Spirit of the Holy One**: A reverent title used in prophetic or worshipful contexts (Isaiah 61; Luke 4).

These terms reconnect modern readers to the organic, experiential understanding of the Spirit in biblical times — as God’s animating force, not a distinct entity or philosophical 'person.'

### Usage Rules:

Use these Spirit terms according to the context:

Narrative or Teaching contexts**: Set-Apart Spirit

Life-giving or intimate breath contexts**: Sacred Breath

Visions, power encounters, or elemental movement**: Wind of the Most High

Prophetic titles or worship language**: Spirit of the Holy One

### Doctrinal Clarification:

The early Church’s understanding of the Spirit was not philosophical but relational and experiential. The term 'Holy Spirit' later became entangled in doctrinal developments like the Trinity, which, while protecting unity, introduced terms such as 'persons' and 'essence' that the Bible does not use.

By restoring the original vocabulary, *The Bible Restored* returns the reader to a view of God that is intimate, powerful, and faithful to the worldview of Scripture — one God, moving through His breath, His Word, and His loving presence.
