The Words of the Luminaries
[Prayers appointed for the days of the week, recalling God’s mercies, confessing sin, and pleading for the people; the scroll is broken.]
Remember, O Lord, that [Text missing]. You fashioned Adam our father in the likeness of your glory; the breath of life you breathed into him, and understanding and knowledge you gave him. You set him to rule the garden which you had planted, to walk in a glorious land; but he did not keep your charge. [Line damaged]
Yet you did not forsake us. In all our generations you have poured out your mercies upon the remnant, that a remnant might remain to you; for you are gracious and slow to anger and full of compassion, and you forgive iniquity and sin. You chastened us as a man chastens his son, and you brought us into the land you swore to our fathers.
We have sinned, we and our fathers, by walking contrary to your covenant; and you gave us into the hand of our enemies, for you are righteous in all that has come upon us. And now, O Lord, turn your anger from us; remember your wonders that you did while the nations looked on; for we are called by your name. Heal us of madness and blindness and confusion of heart. [A prayer for the Sabbath:] Give thanks to the LORD, and bless his holy name continually. Let all the angels of the holy firmament bless him; let the heavens and the earth and all their hosts bless him; for he has given us rest, and lifted from us all sorrow.
