The Ways of Righteousness

[A description of the conduct of the righteous and the wicked; preserved in fragments.]

These are the ways of the righteous man: he answers with humility, and speaks slowly; he does not give answer before he has heard, and he does not speak before he understands. He searches out judgment with patience, and gives his verdict in truth; he is not hasty in his anger, and he does not bear a grudge.

But the ways of the wicked man are otherwise: he speaks before he listens, and gives his verdict before he has weighed the matter; he is hasty with his lips, and harsh in his judgment, [Line damaged] and he walks in the stubbornness of his heart. [Text missing]
