Prayers for Deliverance from Qumran

[Pleas for rescue from enemies and from the power of wickedness; preserved in fragments.]

Arise, O Lord, and save me;

do not give my soul to the destroyers,

nor let the snare of the pit close over me.

Rebuke the spirit that troubles me,

and let no power of Belial rule over my soul.

For I have taken refuge in you, O Lord; you are my stronghold in the day of distress. Do not hide your face from your servant, for I am poor and needy, and there is no helper but you. [Text missing]

Deliver your people from the hand of all their enemies, and gather the scattered from the four winds; let them see your salvation and rejoice in your name. [Line damaged] For yours is the power, and to you belongs the deliverance, O God of our salvation.
