Heavenly Palace Ascent Fragments

[Archive witness: fragments describing the ascent of the mystic through the seven heavenly palaces to the throne.]

Whoever would descend to the chariot must pass through the seven palaces; and at the gate of each palace stand fierce guardians, and none may pass who does not show the seals and speak the names. [Text missing]

At the gate of the first palace he shows the seal and is admitted; so at the second, and the third, until he comes to the sixth, where the danger is greatest, for there it seems as though waves of water break over him, though there is no water; and if he asks, What is the nature of these waters? he is in peril. But at the seventh palace he stands before the throne of glory, and beholds the King in his beauty, and the holy creatures, and he gives praise and does not perish, for he is among the worthy.
