The Interpretation of Knowledge
The Interpretation of Knowledge
[A discourse on the one body of the Saviour and its members; preserved with damage.]
The Saviour took upon himself the death of those who were in error, and bore it; and he became the head, and we the members. Do not say, then, Why am I not as another? For we are one body, and each member is needed; the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you. [Text missing]
Do not envy the one who has a gift you do not have, as though he had taken it from you; for the gift is given by grace, for the building up of the whole. If your brother has a gift, give thanks, for it is yours also in the one body. Envy and jealousy come from the adversary, who would divide the members; but love joins them. [Line damaged]
Let each use what he has received for the others, and not for himself alone; so the body grows, and the head is glorified, and the deficiency is filled. This is the knowledge that builds up, and not the knowledge that puffs up. [Text missing]
