Marsanes

[A revelation of ascent through ranks called the seals; heavily damaged.]

[Marsanes said:] I have known the things that truly are, and I have considered them all. [Text missing] There are thirteen seals, by which the soul rises through the ranks; and I have passed through them and seen what is above them.

The first ranks are of this world, which passes away; above them the souls that are being purified; above them the ranks of the truly existing ones; and above all, the Silent One, the unknowable, who is beyond name and beyond the mind, from whom all came forth. [Line damaged]

I came down again, having seen, to make these things known: that the one who knows them and is purified will not be held by the powers, but will ascend and find rest; for the soul that knows itself and its source becomes divine, and is gathered into the One. [Text missing]
