Non-Canonical Psalms from Qumran — Witness Note

[Witness note. It gathers, in one place, the psalmic compositions found at Qumran beyond the canonical Psalter, with cross-references to their homes.]

Beyond the canonical hundred and fifty psalms, the caves at Qumran preserved a number of further psalmic compositions, scattered across several scrolls. To keep the dedup rule and leave nothing out, they are restored once at their homes and listed here together:

Psalm 151, and Psalms 152–155 — the apocryphal psalms of David.

The Apostrophe to Zion; the Plea for Deliverance; the Hymn to the Creator.

The Self-Glorification Hymn.

The Thanksgiving Hymns (the Hodayot) — filed under their own name in the Songs and Prayers section.

The psalmic material within the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice.

The contents of the Great Psalms Scroll in particular are set out in the accompanying note on the additional psalms of that scroll. This note serves as the gathering-point for the wider category, so that the full range of the Qumran psalmic witness can be seen at once.
