Eldad and Modad

[A lost book attributed to the two who prophesied in the camp of Israel; only a single line is preserved, quoted by a later writer.]

Eldad and Modad prophesied to the people in the camp, as it was written of them: that the Spirit of God rested upon them, and they did not cease.

And the word that is preserved from their prophecy is this:

The Lord is near to those who turn to him,

as it is written in the book of Eldad and Modad,

who prophesied to the people in the wilderness.
