Allogenes

[A revelation of ascent given to Allogenes, who hands it to his son Messos; preserved with damage.]

I, Allogenes, was instructed by the powers of the light, and I sought after the One that truly is. And there came to me the holy ones, and they said, Allogenes, you have sought; now be still, and you will know. Do not seek to grasp the Unknowable as the mind grasps lesser things, for it cannot be grasped; but in a knowing that is not knowing, in silence, you will perceive it. [Text missing]

And I was lifted up, and I beheld the ranks of the truly existing ones, and above them the Triple Power, and above all the One who is unknowable, beyond being, beyond name, who is not a god, for he is greater than any god — the source from which all came, who is yet beyond all that came. And when I had seen, I did not dare to speak; for it cannot be told. [Line damaged]

Then I came down, and I wrote these things for you, my son Messos, that you might make them known to those who are worthy. Do not give them to the unworthy; keep them, for they are a mystery, and a great power. [Text missing]
