The Second Treatise of the Great Seth

[A discourse spoken in the voice of the Saviour; preserved with damage.]

I dwelt in the heights, with all the fullness, in the council of the greatness. And the whole house of the Father took counsel that I should go down to the places below, to make known the things that are hidden, and to free those who are mine from the rule of the powers.

I came down, and the rulers did not know me; for I put on the likeness of their world, and passed through their gates, and they did not perceive who I was. They thought to seize me and to put me to death; but it was not I whom they struck. Another bore the cross upon his shoulder — it was Simon. They drove the nails into another; I was above, laughing at their ignorance, for they were striking at a likeness, and they did not reach me. The death they thought they gave me was their own blindness; for I am the living one, and I cannot die.

I am in everyone, and I suffer with no compulsion; for those who are mine I have set free, and called them to the rest. Let no one be deceived by the rulers, who say, There is no other beside us; for they do not know the One who is above them, the Father of truth. Those who know him are joined together as one, a unity in the light, and they will not be divided. [Line damaged] This I declare for the sake of those who are mine, that they may know and be saved, and dwell with me in the rest that does not pass away.
