Adam Octipartite and Septipartite

When God formed the first man, He made his body from the world itself, that the man might carry the whole creation within him.

Of eight portions was Adam made:

his flesh from the earth;

his bones from the stones;

his blood from the sea;

his breath from the wind;

his eyes from the brightness of the sun;

his thought from the swiftness of the clouds;

his warmth from the fire;

and his spirit from the breath of God.

Therefore the man is restless when the wind is troubled, and heavy when the earth is heavy, and bright when the sun is bright; for he is gathered from all these, and to all these he answers.

———

His name was drawn from the four corners of the world, that the whole earth might be named in him: from the rising of the sun, and from its setting, from the north, and from the south. The four letters of his name are the four ends of the earth.

———

Others reckon the man in seven portions and not in eight, joining the warmth of the fire to the brightness of the sun. [Meaning uncertain] Whether seven or eight, the teaching is one: that the man is made of all the world, and the breath of God is in him above all the rest.
